Frequently Asked Questions

  • Occupational therapy focuses on all the daily tasks that are most important to you. Your goals, desires and interests are at the center of what we focus on in therapy, whether that is dressing yourself, cooking your favorite meal or playing cards with your friends. We understand your diagnosis does not just impact you physically but can also have a big impact emotionally. Occupational therapy can focus on adapting tasks to where you are at while also improving strength, coordination, vision, range of motion or other concerns to get you back to the life you love.

  • Neuro Connections is a mobile outpatient therapy service, meaning you do not need to meet the very specific criteria needed for home health services. Our services are similar to what you would get if you went to a clinic for therapy.

We understand there are many reasons you may want therapy in your home instead of traveling to a clinic. Transportation issues, dificulty getting in and out of your home, or just feeling more comfortable in your home may be reasons to consider therapy provided in the home. Research also has shown that using items that are meaningful to you in therapy can improve outcomes, helping you get better faster.

  • Research tells us the best time for upper extremity rehab after a brain injury is 30-60 days after brain injury. This tends to be the time people are discharged from intensive therapy services and may have to wait to get into outpatient therapy. At Neuro Connections we know this isn’t right. We want you to have the best opportunity for success and optimize this critical period.

Does this mean after 60 days I won’t benefit from therapy?

NO! Therapy can be beneficial months and years after injury. Some people will have times of progression with their recovery. If you are noticing changes (positive or negative) with your symptoms it may be a good time to return to therapy.

  • We are a mobile clinic that serves the Madison Wisconsin and surrounding area. We provide therapy services in your home and do not currently have a physical location.

  • Our evaluation and treatment sessions are completed in the comfort of your home. This allows us to practice skills and problem solve challenges in the environment you will be doing them in. Each evaluation takes between 60-90 minutes and includes discussion of your challenges, goals and formal assessment of multiple areas. Follow up sessions are approximately 60 minutes in length and will address your priorities. This may include improving strength or motion in your arm, learning techniques to increase safety and trying equipment to make things easier.

  • Each treatment plan is unique to the person and their goals. There is no set timeline for recovery and there are multiple factors that can impact how long you are seen in therapy. At Neuro Connections you are an equal partner in your recovery and open discussion regarding frequency of therapy services is encouraged.

  • Our current fees are:

    Initial Evaluation: $199

    All follow up visits: $149

You may be able to access out of network benefits through your insurance to cover costs. Occupational Therapy is also eligible for reimbursement through HRA, HSA, or FSA accounts. • At Neuro Connections we want the focus to be on your recovery and we do not want insurance to dictate the care you receive. Many insurances will allow for “out of network” benefits. It is important to call your insurance company to determine if you have out of network benefits. Please reach out if you have additional questions on this process.

We are in network with Medicare.

  • No! There are many reasons you may have been discharged from OT services in the past. If you are still struggling with daily tasks, want to be more independent or gain more control of your arm, it may be time to return to OT. If you are noticing changes in your symptoms (positive or negative), call for a free consultation so we can help guide you on your path to recovery
